Vixens: Kimberlee of Naturally Fashionable

"I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me."

- What’s your name and where are you from?
Kimberlee, I am originally from New York City, but I now reside in North Carolina.

- How has being natural affected your life? How do you feel about this natural hair “movement”?
Being natural has really helped me except myself for who God created me to be.  I don't think that it is this "deep" movement that some people try to make it about, but I am more spiritually connected with myself and I feel more creative.

- Do you have staple hair products? If so what are they?
I like variety, so I tend to use a lot of different products, but I really enjoy the As I Am Twist Defining Cream. I also like Eco Styler gel for my puffs.

- Hard as it may seem how would you describe your hair and the regime you use to maintain it?
I would describe my hair as kinky and coarse (4a, 4b type).  My regimen is really simple.  I deep condition every two weeks and make sure that I moisturize and seal with an oil as needed.  At night, I twist my hair or put it in a puff at the top of my head.  I make sure that I sleep with a bonnet or my satin pillow case, and that is pretty much all that I do.

- Designers are already preparing for Fall, what are some trends you are looking forward to?
I am looking forward to the extreme embellishments trend this fall.  I was able to preview some of the upcoming fall trends during Full Figured Fashion Week and there will lots of embellishments (stones/studs) on clothing this fall.  I love a classic look with an edge, so I am excited about that.

- Plus Size fashion can be such a hit and miss for a lot of retailers. What are some of your favorite retailers?
My favorite retailer at the moment is ASOS. I can buy everything I need online at that store.

- What and who are you listening to now?
I love music, and right now I am listening to Fantasia and Janelle Monae.

- Here at The Vixen Box, health and fitness is major. I know for me I am working on getting myself right physically and emotionally by eating clean and incorporating exercise into my life. What do you do as far as health and fitness to stay or reach a level of good health?
Well, I am going to be honest and say at this moment my husband and I have slacked in the working out department.  We plan to get on track by cooking more meals and home and making exercise more of a priority than it has been before.

- Do you meditate? If so, do you mind sharing how often and what the benefits have been for you? -

I pray daily and ask God for wisdom to make good decisions and to direct my path.  I find this essential in navigating through a world that can be difficult.  It gives me the peace that I need to be strong and stay focused.

-Describe your blog and how readers can stay in contact with you:
My blog is thenaturalfashionista.com.  It is really a fashion journal, but my blog touches on aspects of self-confidence and how to dress for your body type.  It is really a way for me to empower woman to be fashionable and show off their best assets to the world.

- What makes you a Vixen: A Vixen is a Woman who exudes love, acceptance, and gratitude, while conquering the world but still keeping it funky and edgy.
I am a Vixen because I except myself totally for who I am, while lifting up other woman to be the best that they can be as well.

- Favorite Quote:
"I can do all things through Christ, who strengthens me." (Phillippians 4:13)

- What words of encouragement would you give to a Plus Size Diva who is frustrated with her body or insecure in her body?
I would say that if you don't like something about your body take the necessary steps to change it, but you must except yourself where you are in order to maintain high self-esteem.  There will always be things that you will not like or want to change about yourself, but it is important to remember that you are "worthy" and just being who you are is good enough.  When you start to realize that everything about your life will change.

- Memorial Day is coming up! As readers are making plans, what is your perfect holiday outfit?
My perfect holiday outfit is a crop top and maxi skirt, very comfortable and cute at the same time!
