Vixens: Peace of Gurlish Curls!

What’s your name and where are you from?
My name is Peace Pressley and I live in Atlanta

How has being natural affected your life? How do you feel about this natural hair “movement”?

Being natural allowed me to be my whole self.  Not to say that I was shy or anything like that, but I began to walk with more confidence and I felt more beautiful!  I love the natural hair movement!  I am proud that so many black women are cool with learning how to care for the that God gave them.

Do you have staple hair products? If so what are they?

Staples...Mercy!  I have so many products that are in rotation, but these are my current favs: African Pride Shea Miracle Bouncy Curl Pudding – It gives the BEST definition in my twist outs and keeps my hair from drying out to fast.  It can seem a little heavy in the summer, but my hair soaks it up!  Nothing But Hair Intense Healing Mask (deep conditioner) – I use this when I deep condition with my steamer and my hair is always soft afterward.  I also use their shampoo, conditioner, and curl sealer!  I really like this line!  Pura Body Naturals Sapote Hair Lotion and Cupaucu Butter – This is probably my all-time favorite combination for moisturizing and sealing!  It leave your hair SUPER soft after twisting, braiding or anything!  I have more of my favorite products listed on my blog under What My Hair Loves!

Hard as it may seem how would you describe your hair and the regime you use to maintain it?
My hair would be considered Kinky Curly or 4c.  I normally wash/deep condition once a week. I don't really do blow drying very often as I prefer to air dry in twists or braids. I love styling my hair.  My go to style is a twist out, but for summer, my go to style is Marley Twists!  It only take a few hour to put in and minutes to take down!  I do them every 2 weeks

Here at The Vixen Box we love NAILS. What is your nail pic for this season? What is a go-to nail look for you?

For my nails, I love bright colors like peach/orange, mint, aqua, and yellow!  Some times I do a DIY mani and I do a specialty glitter nail on my ring finger!  Its really fun and easy to do! Somewhat messy, but that's ok!

From our point of view it looks like “Big Tings A Gwan” are in the works for you…. Care to talk about your upcoming projects?
I just finished up a giveaway on my blog for hair accessories.  I love hair flowers and I wear them everyday.  Currently, I'm working on doing a video where I will do a Pinterest DIY Project!
How would you describe your personality?
BIG!  I'm very outgoing, personable, God-centered, and kind!  I love talking with people and making new connections!

Here at The Vixen Box, health and fitness is major. I know for me I am working on getting myself right physically and emotionally by eating clean and incorporating exercise into my life. What do you do as far as health and fitness to stay or reach a level of good health?
I currently in the weight loss process.  I am down about 12lbs! Woot Woot!  I love dancing!  I currently taking Zumba, Yoga, and Kickboxing.  In a few weeks I'll be training for my first 5k run!  I am mainly vegetarian (I do eat fish, eggs, and cheese) and I make a MEAN fruit smoothie and I make my own veggie burgers!

What music are you listening to and what books are you currently reading? Any suggestions…
I am currently listening to The Chase   and Lianne La Havas!   The Chase is a hip-hop music group. Their music is amazing, relaxing, cool, and even funny.  They just released their new album entitled “The Wake-Up Call” and I LOVE IT!!!!!  Lianna La Havas is like underground guitar-based folk.  This ebony girl has an amazing voice and she plays guitar like me!  Her latest album is call “Is Your Love Big Enough?”  I am reading “Illusion” by Frank Peretti.  I love Christian fiction novels!!  Anything by him is a great read in my mind!

Describe Spirituality to you…
Spirituality for me is being connected to God.  Praying and talking with Him and really getting to know Jesus is important to me.  I am currently reading “Jesus Calling” by Sarah Young for my morning devotional.

Any words of encouragement you want to give to our readers on being confident and loving who you are?

My brand motto is: “Conquering life on curl at a time!”  This mean that your natural hair journey is not a race.  It more like a marathon in which you have to pace yourself, or you'll tire of it too quickly.  Be patient your hair and your body because they work together.  Also, remember to have fun and experiment with hairstyles and products! Take time to enjoy being natural!

Where can we read your blog or get connected with you? What is your blog about?
You can read my blog on Gurlish Curls.  My blog is about natural hair, but I write about what every I want!  I do product reveiws, giveaways, and talk about different events and weddings that I attend.  You can also stay connected with me on

What makes you a Vixen: (Here at The Vixen Box  a Vixen is someone who loves, accepts everything and everyone for who they are. They spread love, share love, and give love. Conquering the world one day at a time, while keeping it funky and edgy.)

I am a Vixen because I'm comfortable in my own skin.  I learn to love me more and more each day while still caring for others.
