Vixens: Lexi With The Curls

What’s your name and where are you from?
My name is Lexi. I am originally from Hampton, VA but I now live in Atlanta, GA

How has being natural affected your life? How do you feel about this natural hair “movement”?
Being natural has definitely changed my life. I feel more free now. I feel more confident. I can just be me. I am loving the natural hair “movement”. I love that people are embracing their natural hair texture. But I do want to be clear that I am not anti-relaxer. I love people just expressing themselves through hair.

Do you have staple hair products? If so what are they?
I have some staple products and brands. My first natural hair love was Paul Mitchell’s Foaming Pomade. My other love is Cantu Shea Leave In. Those two 10 years later still make my hair fab!

Hard as it may seem how would you describe your hair and the regime you use to maintain it?
I would describe my hair as kinky, fluffy and coily. Another keyword for my hair would be Tangly. Because my hair is super coily, it gets tangled easily because it wraps around the other coils. My regimen is to wash my hair at least twice a week and separate the hair into at least 4 sections. While in the shower, I detangle section by section while its filled with conditioner (usually a cheapie conditioner). After that, I either do a wash and go if it’s in the morning or if its at night, I do a twist out.

Designers are already preparing for Fall, what are some trends you are looking forward to?
Some fall trends I love are blazers. I am obsessed with fun patterned blazers.  Also, I love to layer so I can wait until it cools down a little bit and I can wear crisp button downs with blazers and skinny jeans (or Boyfriend Skinny Jeans).

I absolutely love Make-Up, especially when it is well blended and natural, but mysterious. What are some of your staple cosmetics in your arsenal?
My staple makeup product right now is the IMAN Cosmetics BB Crème. It’s so lightweight and natural. I put that on, add a little bronzer , maybe a little blush, eye liner & mascara, and a natural lip color and I am good to go. I don’t wear makeup daily, but when I do, I keep it light.

Sexuality is celebrated here on The Vixen Box through “The Clitoris Taboo” series on the blog, how do you describe sexuality for you?
I would describe my sexuality as …I guess something I am still exploring. My confidence is slowing helping me get out of my shell.

Music is such a great medium? What and who are you listening to now?
I actually am a huge fan of down south music- from Two Chainz to Future , I love music with a lot of bass. I also love pop/R&B music like Beyonce and Katy Perry.I pretty much listen to everything but country (but you may find me listening to Taylor Swift sometimes).

Here at The Vixen Box, health and fitness is major. I know for me I am working on getting myself right physically and emotionally by eating clean and incorporating exercise into my life. What do you do as far as health and fitness to stay or reach a level of good health?
I recently lost over 40 lbs in the past 7 months. I saw myself on TV this year and knew I had to make a change. My scale reached over 200 lbs and I was clinically “obese”. I started eating smaller portions through Nutrisystem and that helped me get on the path to eating right. I also work out 3 days a week (at least) and also do zumba and spin class.  Through my weight loss journey I realized it’s a mixture of eating healthy AND exercising. A good mix of cardio and toning works best too.

-  Do you meditate? If so, do you mind sharing how often and what the benefits have been for you?I don’t meditate but I definitely need to! Whenever I take yoga, I do appreciate the meditation aspect though.

What makes you a Vixen:   (Here at The Vixen Box  a Vixen is someone who loves, accepts everything and everyone for who they are. They spread love, share love, and give love. Conquering the world one day at a time, while keeping it funky and edgy.)

What makes me a Vixen is that I expect everyone to be as they are. I want everyone, including myself, to reach their full potential in this world. I do this by encouraging others to follow their dreams and passion.
