Vixens: Ritza in The City

Light does not try to convince anyone of its attribute. Light just reveals what is there. – D.B. Ashuah

- What’s your name and where are you from?
My name is Ritza, but I go by the name Raspberry, and I’m originally from Haiti.

- How has being natural affected your life? How do you feel about this natural hair “movement”?
hmmmm….I don’t think being natural has affected my life by much, to be honest. If anything, I no longer feel like I “live” at the hair salon anymore, which is a plus!
I think that this Natural hair movement is awesome!!! It’s beautiful to see soo many women appreciating what they were born with.  To see a growing number of women rocking their hair in its natural state is a beautiful thing!

- Do you have staple hair products? If so what are they?
The only product that has been consistent in my healthy hair journey is Nexxus Humectress conditioner. I used it while my hair was relaxed, and I use it now while natural.

- Hard as it may seem how would you describe your hair and the regime you use to maintain it?  My hair is very dense and a mixture of 4b and 4c textures. At the back of my head, the hair is very soft and has more of an s-curl pattern, at the crown of my head, the hair is dense, tight, and often difficult to stretch even after a twist or braid-out.  My hair requires a lot of moisture because it gets very dry. I use Nexus Hummectress conditioner as a leave in, and s-curl , wave nouveau, or aloe vera juice to keep my hair moisturized

- Designers are already preparing for Fall, what are some trends you are looking forward to?
I love fashion, but I don’t feel comfortable calling myself “trendy”.  I’ve always loved adding a random pop of color to my look. That’s my motif, and that’s what I plan to stick to! This fall, for me, it’s all about the red leather glove! I usually try to stay away from red, with the exception of wearing it on my lips!  When the red that I wear comes in the form of a splash of red on my lips, I am excited to incorporate the color into my look.

- I absolutely love Make-Up, especially when it is well blended and natural, but mysterious. What are some of your staple cosmetics in your arsenal?
Kevin Aucoin foundation. Dior blue mascara and pink champagne lipstick are my everyday facial compliments.

- Sexuality is celebrated here on The Vixen Box through “The Clitoris Taboo” series on the blog, how do you describe sexuality for you?
Sexuality, to me, is the notion of a person having the ability to develop an emotional, physical, and/or mental connection to/with someone while feeling completely comfortable with themselves, and the person whom they are with. Sexuality is purely defined by self, and when carried out is an honest reflection of a personal want.

- Music is such a great medium? What and who are you listening to now?
I’m currently listening to Jay-Z’s Holy Grail album and Wale.

- Here at The Vixen Box, health and fitness is major. I know for me I am working on getting myself right physically and emotionally by eating clean and incorporating exercise into my life. What do you do as far as health and fitness to stay or reach a level of good health?
I actually favor organic products. I take the stairs instead of elevators, and I try not to eat out as much.

- Do you meditate? If so, do you mind sharing how often and what the benefits have been for you?
I meditate as often as possible, especially when my life seems “noisy”. Meditation helps quiet my mind and allows me to focus on the positive. I honestly meditate at least twice a week, and recently started doing zen mediation with a Buddhist group.

- Describe your blog and how readers can stay in contact with you:
You can catch me on YouTube or Facebook
My blog started off basically from me documenting my natural hair journey, but I definitely got bored with that, so it has kind of turned into a blog about everything and nothing at the same time, and still some posts about hair.

- What makes you a Vixen:   (Here at The Vixen Box  a Vixen is someone who loves, accepts everything and everyone for who they are. They spread love, share love, and give love. Conquering the world one day at a time, while keeping it funky and edgy.)
What I think makes me a Vixen is how I admire those who stand apart. I take notice to the unordinary, and I think that being different naturally, and not on purpose, is beautiful!
